Hi ael,

Unfortunately the presence of an OSM object in the comparison tool does not
necessarily mean it will be in the FHRS database. B&Bs are a good example as I
don’t think they’re all registered with FHRS. Some are though, hence my choice
to include tourism=guest_houses in the comparison tool.

The tool imports all OSM data for GB with an fhrs:id tag set and all OSM data
for GB with certain tags (see
<https://github.com/gregrs-uk/python-fhrs-osm/blob/master/filter-osm.sh#L5-L13>
for the current list). My choice of tags was based on an analysis of OSM
objects with an fhrs:id set. You can see PDFs of the graphs here
<https://github.com/gregrs-uk/python-fhrs-osm/commit/e9fb7e5bb41796e9e463ec8f49497c33c2eb91df#commitcomment-19305241>
 and I’m happy to make changes if this would be useful.

As there’s no guarantee that all of the OSM objects in the comparison tool will
have an FHRS record, the statistics only give a % of FHRS establishments
matched and a % of the OSM objects with relevant tags which have an
addr:postcode.

The osm-unmatched-* GPX files include a centroid for each OSM node/way that has
one or more of the relevant tags (see link above) but doesn’t yet have an
fhrs:id set in OSM. Hopefully you shouldn’t need to search the FHRS site too
much as the comparison tool's overview map for each district displays all the
FHRS establishments. (Unmatched ones are shown as blue dots, usually reverse
geocoded by postcode so not always very accurately positioned!)

Hope that helps.

Thanks,
Greg

P.S. Unfortunately the tool isn’t accessible right now as the dev server is
down (see <http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Platform_Status>).
