Not only that, by doing so they also inherit IE's susceptibility to
bugs and viruses.

I'm not really against the monolithic approach as you defined. It's
fine with me should RIT decide to incorporate a html/richtext editor
in TB, though I have very little use of it. Given the long list of
improvement expected for v2 and the extremely limited resources,
however, I sincerely think it's not wise for RIT to do so.
