We use third party drives/cages in some machines also but it is a hassle that
you have to go buy the drive cages separately. If I buy a 6 bay hot swap
machine I expect 6 cages. And if you ever have a problem related to that third
party drive, good luck getting Dell to support it. They know what they shipped
in that machine and what they have sold you so they will know you are using
unsupported drives.
