I'm a little confused by that logic. :) I'm probably not reading it right... (and *please* do correct me if that's the case!) ...but are you saying that at your shop, you guys chose 2U in order to occupy more space in the rack for a given power amount? If you were otherwise satisfied with 1U and had the same, finite amount of power, why not just partially fill a rack with what you can get, power-wise, in 1U?
