A couple of people, scouts I think, swam the wrong way in the syphon and drowned. It was back when I was caving a lot. Raines and I swam the syphon with a Rayovac flashlight and two canteen belts latched together. The flashlight lasted just long enough for us to get back out. Really dumb.
