That's a SIN. There was a time when you could run Win98 on 64MB very nicely.
Now it takes 1.2 gigs just to boot up. Gates has to be kidding. And you
thought Madoff was a scammer.

Hello,
I am running Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition x64 on a T61p
(6459-CTO)
without any problems. System was purchased with 1GB of RAM and 80GB SATA
HDD
running Vista Home Basic, which I removed and replaced with 4GB of
RAM, a 320GB
SATA HDD and installed a retail version of Vista Ultimate. Currently have
a
500GB SATA HDD installed in it.
Operating system and background programs use about 1.2GB of RAM when cold
booted, and tends to hover around 1.3-1.4GB during daily usage.
I use a T60 (no p) at work, and there is not too much difference between
the
two, usability-wise.

Anyone have any comments on 64 bit Vista? I'm thinking I'd like to run
it
on my new T61p,
only to reclaim the extra gig of memory (I purchased the machine solely
for
graphic
editing). I actually use Vista Ultimate (got a free license from a
Windows
Mobile UG I've belonged
to for over 9 years), and once you tweak it, it's fairly decent, although
updates take forever and drivers
are somewhat of a pain.
The X60 Tablet of course remains at XP Pro. I wish I could make this
faster, because when I tried Photoshop
CS4 on the tablet, realized I needed a new machine. Any other tidbits
about
the T61p I should
know about, such as the nvidia graphic performance, or is it fairly
comparable to the T60p it's replacing?
Thanks,
Paul

Couldnt agree more,
Wouldnt have Vista in any form even if it was free.
Still use win 3.1, on a 390x. Win 98se on another A21P.
Main one is still my A21P 2001, as good as the day it was made.
1/2 gig ram. 30 gig ide 7200 HD all on adsl at 3 to 4 megabits a sec
down load speeds.
Running Ubuntu,with firefox and Thunderbird.
No viruses no updates and no crashes.
Have a 2005 widescreen tosh with 2 gig ram etc P4 mobile.Build quality
not up to Thinkpad standards.
No faster than the thinkpad.P3 850.
Also have a Dell C840 Latitude, also P4 1 gig ram with 1600 by 1200 screen.
Goes well with Win XP pro but build quality crap. Dont use it.
Compaq Armarda p2 400 , made as well if not better than Thinkpads.
Magnesium case and screen/lid. Very solid .
P3 Samsung 's very good to, P4 Samsung build quality very poor.
Whats the point of Vista?
