I'm guessing it does, and considering how few (if > any?) ISPs have done this, I think they agree.
Mine is one of the biggest in Canada and it runs ntp services on its web servers and on its mail servers. Have you at least tested this on your own provider (ftp, pop, dns, etc.) before jumping to the conclusion that your provider doesn't give you permission to connect to its time servers and that therefore you must have the pool to save the world. Have you phoned your ISP to ask if they provide time services ? Presuming that providers do not want you to connect to their time servers because it would be way too expensive for them to maintain and that therefore we must use the pool is a mistake in my humble opinion. In all my architecture works, I have always applied the following principle : Simple is beautiful. The pool is way too complicated to qualify for "Simple is beautiful". That's why we get all sorts of problems DNS, peeks, etc. and that's why there will always be problems with the pool system. The core design of the pool is the problem. It doesn't matter how much we patch it, the problem will always prevail. -Louis > _______________________________________________ > timekeepers mailing list > [email protected] > https://fortytwo.ch/mailman/cgi-bin/listinfo/timekeepers > Louis http://blogtech.oc9.com _______________________________________________ timekeepers mailing list [email protected] https://fortytwo.ch/mailman/cgi-bin/listinfo/timekeepers
