Another reality... in my dept., we were just approved for two NEW tenure track lines... this is something that has not happened in decades. What this means is that there will be FEWER part-timers teaching in our dept. Our part-timers tend to be Ph.D. students at area universities who are looking to gain experience by teaching a few classes. I have never heard them complain about the $$$, bc/ that is not why they took the job.
