Hi Sid, I had a hard drive failure that was similar and I was not able to transfer all the recordings. Some recordings went over with no problems but others would just freeze regardless of whether I was transferring to another Tivo or to my desktop. I use a Mac so was using Toast rather than Tivo Desktop. The problem was the WD My DVR expander - it was replaced under warranty but I still lost a lot of the recordings and had to reset all the Season Passes.
