I was affected T8-T10. Paralyzed in the beginning. Learned to walk after
quite a time. Now use cane or walker outside of home. Cane in home if tired.
Neuropathic pain waist to toes with patches of numbness from waist to toes as
well.

Last week I visited my Physiatrist. Told him my right hip feels like it could
be damaged in the joint over the last almost 4 yrs with TM as my right leg is
the weak one and my foot tends to turn out while I'm standing and I'm not aware
of it right away so makes my left leg do all the work or most of it to support
me. He had me lay on my right side and he started to poke my hip in a few
places. I darn near lifted off the table it hurt so much. He then asked me to
lay on my left side on the table (which was hard as cement) and boy did that
hurt my right hip. So he got a needle and gave me a shot of Depo Medrol 40 mg
(methylprednisolone acetate) into the hip where it hurt the most. I didn't
feel the needle at all. However, he said it would feel like a freezing after
about 20 mins or so. My gosh. I didn't realize just how much it was hurting
me until the pain stopped once this 'freezing' took hold. I guess it was a
shot of prednisone or cortisone or whatever and WOW what a difference. It
doesn't hurt to get out of bed (not that hip anyway) nor when I try to walk or
go up some stairs. He said that if in 2 months it was hurting again to come
back to him and he would use a longer spinal needle to deliver the medication
to that spot. It was a type of bursitis. Who knew. So guess all our aches
are not always TM but can be brought on by the way we walk/move etc from the TM.

My 2 cents.
Today it is sunny/partly cloudy in Calgary. Unlike the torrential rains we had
a few days ago that left major underpasses in Calgary underwater and vehicles
floating around.

This interesting. Wonder how many of us are affected in multiple levels ???
TM hit me at L-1/L-2 and I was paralyzed from the waist down. I learned to
walk again for short distances 25-30 ft. with a cane or walker. However, I had
other symptoms above the waist and my neuro has confirmed that there are minute
lesions the whole length of my spine. None of these symptoms cause disability
- they're just annoying.
All in all, I am thankful TM was caught early before severe damage occurred.

          Sally,
I was wondering what type of affect you have on your body in T6-T8?
Numbness, pain? Are you able to walk. I've always wondered when folks get TM
in 2 or 3 levels of the spine how it is. If you don't mind, I'm just trying to
educate myself on TM. I have it from T12 down and in a w/c. Did you have
Rehab in your state? I had to go from Arkansas to Texas for 7 weeks total.
Thanks, Natalie

when it's cold - like when I went to California when it was in the 50's at

Hawaii, I often wear socks around the house in the cool weather (we don't
normally wear shoes in the house here, but leaves our shoes at the door).
