Starting with a disclaimer: My Touch is a Beta Unit. 

I still favor the Transporter for analog and digital output. The Touch
is short of the TP in analog output and doesn't have Balanced outs. The
Touch makes a great digital transport but for me the TP is better. But
even having said that, I think it takes a very good and expensive DAC
to see/hear any difference between a Touch or TP feeding a DAC.

And now that the Touch is out, if one is going to use an external DAC,
I say buy the Touch for your digital transport.
