Does the audioengine claim to support the sample rate in the
/proc/sound/ entry?  The usb code will only play back the native sample
rates of the hardware (which is what TT does when it bypasses the plug
layer).  In the case of SB internal devices they don't support 32k (or
don't look to have been configured for it), but some usb dacs may.
