I would like to sympathies with you people - because last week I sent a mail
to this list asking for a web page which I can put on my site in order to
allow users who can dial up my server to compose and send a fax while on
line using the tpc service.

I like to thank all people who have been extremely kind and sent their
helpful comments but I had expected some one from tpc to send me the page I
needed without me having to deal with the java script etc....

I thought this is a great way to promote my dial up mail server and also the
services of tpc.

May I thank all the people who cared and replied to my mail
Best regards

I have joined this news group with the hope that one day, I will be able to
start up a cell myself for south-west quarter of Los Angeles County,
California, USA, but likewise it is unfortunate that I still don't have the
necessary skills needed to do it thus far. I think there are many people
like me, willing to start up a cell, but lack of required skills -- mainly
because TPC server can not be run on Windows operating system. As today,
more and more people get on broadband Internet access from home, they got
24x7 Internet connection even with fixed IP address plus home telephones
mostly are free to call/fax within 12 miles radius in United States. The
only thing they don't have is a TPC server software that can run on Windows
operating system. I just sincerely hope someone will come up with TPC
server software for Windows before I figure out how to run TPC server on
Linux. I really think as soon as TPC server software is available for
Windows, cells will grow much faster and eventually cover everywhere around
the world.

Abuse certainly take place regularly. Each cell can take necessary measures
to counter the abuse, for example, Texas cell has following:

This cell is currently configured to allow a maximum of
  50 fax(es), 50 page(s) or 12 minute(s) of connect time per hour
  50 fax(es) per day
  50 fax(es) per week
User [EMAIL PROTECTED] has sent
  1 fax(es), 2 page(s), 2 minute(s) connect time in the past hour
1 fax(es) in the past day
1 fax(es) in the past week
====================================
NOTICE AND APPLICATION OF 47 USC 227
By using the Texas TPC Fax cell, you agree to all the rules posted at
   http://www.web-sys.net/fax/manual.html#rules
UNSOLICITED COMMERCIAL FAXES ARE STRICTLY FORBIDDEN !!

This is a free service that is partially paid for and sponsored by the
following advertiser. This service is administered by TPC and the Texas
area is managed by Tony Savarese. To advertise in this area, send email to

Moreover, cells can also block all relayed e-mail or e-mail via an
open-relay SMTP mail server.

Mr. H. or Darren???

I have joined this newsletter with the hope that one day a cell would be up
and running for Montreal. Unfotunately, It has been over 1 yr now and I
have yet to see anyone from my neck of the woods help out with TPC.

When I first discovered the free faxing service, i was hoping to start up a
cell myself, but again it is unfortunate that I don't have the neccessary
skills needed to do so.

I honestly think that a cell for Montreal would be a great thing. Mostly
because at the present time some businesses are lagging with on-line and
interet presence and yet most (thankfully) have a fax machine. Plus the
greatest asset for those already connected is to be able to fax a client or
friend directly from your e-mail without having to do it manually !!!

I have a few contacts that are ISP's and I have tried to pitch the idea to
them...but I think that most are just too busy etc...etc,,and don't see
anything to gain from a "volenteer" type of set up...and the ones i know are
all with NT.

This is really too bad.

My question though is how does TPC handle any abuse of the sysytem ?
Does abuse take place? Who is responsible and have there ever been any legal
ramifications ?

I still have one last hope and may try another friend with the idea...but
certainly these where the questions that where asked of me when I tried to
get someone to participate or take notice of the project.

Regards,

Effie Criticou
