A Unix box or two running running DNS, sendmail, perl, HylaFAX, libtiff on
a 24/7 connection with fixed IP's is all you need. There are so many
skilled Linux users now, this should not be too hard to find.

The toughest thing is still the 24/7 connection with fixed IP's as I am
aware of numerous people with skill to run one and a machine running Linux.
Their Internet connection is the weak point.

Make a deal with a Linux savvy kid, you supply the connection and computer
and he can administer it as well as his own web server. Meanwhile you'll
learn it too.

>I honestly think that a cell for Montreal would be a great thing. Mostly
>because at the present time some businesses are lagging with on-line and
>interet presence and yet most (thankfully) have a fax machine. Plus the
>greatest asset for those already connected is to be able to fax a client or
>friend directly from your e-mail without having to do it manually !!!

Bet the problem is that the people with the skills and resources are
unaware of TPC.INT.

>My question though is how does TPC handle any abuse of the sysytem ?
>Does abuse take place? Who is responsible and have there ever been any legal
>ramifications ?

There is another list where we share information on abuse and abusers are
blocked in several ways. Sending address, receiving addresss, origination
of the e-mail. Spamming and sending offensive material are a problem. Also
third part fax services that piggy back onto TPC.INT. They are bad because
they modify the body of the fax to include their advertising.

>I still have one last hope and may try another friend with the idea...but
>certainly these where the questions that where asked of me when I tried to
>get someone to participate or take notice of the project.

The place that really would use TPC.INT a lot is Central Mexico. Places
like San Luis Potosi have manufacturing centers and need to have a free fax
service for US and other foreign vendors and customers to use.
