I don't know what is going on, but it sounds like a user specific issue.  
Meaning that there isn't a problem with the distribution or browser. If there  
was others would be reporting this as well. Maybe there is a problem with  
installation disk or .... there is some other weird issue with hardware your  
using on both machines, etc.
