Have an interesting update on this problem: When I run Google Chrome and go to 'chrome://gpu-interals' the X Server would crash and this didn't seem to be dependent on the Xorg Core Server version. I installed my Nvidia divers directly from the Nvidia binaries. The Nvidia*304.32.sh.run drivers have the ability to do a sanity check run by the following...just go to TTY1...
'sudo lightdm service stop' 'NVIDIA*304.32.sh.run --sanity" Apparently the Xorg Core Server upgrade alters a single Xorg file and this corrupts the Nvidia installation and the Nvidia installer will recommend a reinstallation of the drivers. Unfortunately I will have run the whole upgrade, check re-install process and write the file name down... Will try this with the new 304.37 drivers... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/973096 Title: Nvidia driver causes xorg crash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nvidia-drivers-ubuntu/+bug/973096/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
