AWESOME, just did a controlled test post Nvidia 304.37 Installation via Nvidia binary sh installer...
0. Assumes installation of 304.37 Nvidia Binary Driver.... 1. Okay installed the latest Xorg Core Server '2:1.11.4-0ubuntu10.7' via Update Manager. 2. Went into Google Chrome and opened "about:gpu-internals" and triggered an X crash and got brought back to greeter. 3. Switched to TTY1, stopped Lightdm... 4. Ran 'NVIDIA*304.37.run --sanity' Nvidia installation sanity check and this is the output: => '/usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so is not a symbolic link!' => 'Installation was altered since the last installation. It is recommended that you reinstall the driver" 5. Reinstalled the Nvidia 304.37 Binaries as instructed by the Nvidia sanity checker. 6. Restarted Lightdm. 7. Navigated to Google Chrome and ran "about:gpu-internals" and guess what? NO CRASH :-) Think this solves the problem... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/973096 Title: Nvidia driver causes xorg crash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nvidia-drivers-ubuntu/+bug/973096/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
