Also, remember there are some kernel dependent extensions for the ARM6 and ARM7 Raspberry Pi's. The initial image contains extensions for both single and quad core RPi's, so initially would work on both, but as you add extras extensions it only loads the appropriate extensions for the RPi you are working on.
