I'm having a difficulty accepting that but the way things are... The issue concerns a Linux 7.3 server with latest samba and a G4 tower & iBook both with OS X 10.2.4.
At any point in time file transfers of small, middle sized or large files will error with "Can't find file" and "Can't read or write the file" and -36, _43 and -50 errors. Tranfer speed would go from very good to almost a halt witholut any reason at all. View minutes later it would copy without problems. Sometimes I also have to copy file by file - instead of the whole directory - in order to avoid the above errors. I haven't been able to repeat the problem as it never seems to happen twice the same way. None of the Linux or Win2k clients have this problem so logically I can't blame the server setup although I have been playing around with different smb.conf setups, mainly the (op)lock options. This hasn't resolved any of the problems. Google "tells me" I'm the only one with this problem. This could be due to the relative young age of Apple's new OS but still, there must be somebody out there who runs Linux as a server for OS X clients. Anybody on this list who can share some of his findings concerning this issue with me? -- Cheers, Zoran.
