I've just ordered an 18gig scsi from ebay and should have it a few days, I'm planning to use it for 10. My computer is an upgraded:

Umax s900 Supermax with a PowerPC g3 (300), 432 ram. I
have 3 other hd totalling about 6gig.

My first question is should I partition the new hd and
if so how much to give to 10? (I'm not a tech so this
is all new to me)

The first time I installed OSX on my 9600, I put it on half (9 GB) of an 18 GB hdd. Before I knew it, between my iTunes songs and other apps, it was pretty much full. Now I have OS Jag on an 18 GB hdd and it is 7/8 full. Funny, when I installed OSX, it was just to 'try it out,' but now I don't even use Classic.....

Second: am I supposed to do somthing with the g3, do I
need to download something to prepare it or is
everything included in the XPostFacto 2.2.5.1 (also,
is this the latest version?)

XPF will do it all (Thanks, Ryan!) Just be sure you clean format with Apple Disk Utility. Do you have OS 9 on one of the other drives? Go to <http://www.os9forever> and upgrade to 9.2.2. You will need to follow the directions and download the upgrade(s). That will be a good start for you before you go OSX.

Third: does it matter which version of 10 I install,
is one better to start with than another?

If I were you, I would go straight to Jag. Much better and more compatible. But definitely do not stay on 10.0 as it sux. No lower than 10.1.....

And Fourth: are there any problems with Umax s900's
that I should be prepared for and any rememdies I
should know about?

Only the 'booting into a CD' problem which Ryan will have a fix for in a matter of.... minutes? :))
