Thanks to all of you that took the time in this busy
world to be so helpful in responding to my inquiry
about my preparing to go to 10 on my new HD.

As on might expect some of the responses presented new
questions and so I'm hoping to get some further
clarifications.

As regards the partitioning of the 18gig HD: Yes I do
have 3 smaller HD totaling about 6gigs. They are
pretty full, I'm an illustrator and storing alot of
files of my work. It sounds like it may NOT be a good
idea to partition the drive as it will fill up pretty
quickly anyway as suggested in this latest response.
So is OK NOT to partition or is it important for
better 10 functioning to have it in its own partition?
Then can you use the rest of the drive for file
storage etc?

I am presently running 9.1 on one of my older drives,
do I need to be upgrade it to 9.2.2 (? I thought I
read that XFP suggested that we stay with 9.1, that
9.2 was trouble for old clones like mine (Umax S900)?)
If I should stay with 9.1 is it ok to leave it on the
old HD or does it need to on the new HD with 10? Does
it matter where 9.2.2 (if I'm upgarding) is, should it
be on the same drive as 10, should it be partitioned
separartly from 10, should it have its own
partitioning? (As you might be able to tell, I've
never delt with this concept of partitioning and don't
really understand it function except that it sounds
nice and neat, which is "a good thing" as Martha
Stuart might suggest.)

In two of the response I got I got two different
suggestions concerning my G3 upgrade, one (which I
like the best, suggests that FXP will deal with my G3
on its own, GREAT!) the other says that depending on
my G3 brand I might need to download so 10 can work
with it. I don't know the actual brand, in the system
profile it describes it as "PowerPC G3", I thought
that might be the brand but perhaps not? If it is
important(?) to know the brand, how would I find out?
Would I need to open up the machine or is it somewhere
listed inside the software?

Concerning the dreaded black screen (very scary!) it
was brought up to be careful about CDs that don't boot
up, is that concerning the 10 installation CD or ALL
CDs once 10 is installed? If its ALL CDs does that
mean you have to shut down, place the CD in the CDrom
drive and then start the computer holding down certain
keys? This sounds pretty serious so I better make sure
I fully understand all I can what I need to know in
order to avoid this failure.

Thanks to all who have responded and to all who might
respond,
Jim
