Well, they've pulled the ripcord. We know they've been preparing for this for a long time. I've run Rhapsody on an Intel laptop. I've got both black and white Openstep. They've had Marklar in the background since then. But they HAVE finally pulled the ripcord. > You have to ask why. Possibly, but if so we don't know what it is. It's not because IBM hasn't been pulling their weight. It's not because they don't have a way forward for the Powerbook. And it's not because it's going to make Macs faster or cheaper. Maybe it's because Steve really wants to be running a software company and he's tired of having to come up with all the bits between the user and the code. Maybe he wanted to do this in 1998, but he couldn't get away with it until he killed OS 9. Maybe he really is pissed at IBM. But you're right in that if it IS a recent decision, there's something going on nobody's talking about. The only person who knows how to make the e600 work got run over by a truck. Microsoft's pressuring IBM to deny Apple processors. Intel's got a new core in the works that's twice as fast as Opteron. The G5 emits radiation that makes the aliens behind Steve itch.
