Software is the real headache. I'm no guru like the
rest of you, but I not gonna buy a new PPC mac when
new software for Intel Macs will be popping up. Being

software is a bigger mess.

That's what universal binaries (I guess 'fat binaries'
didn't sound too good) are all about.

So i ask myself, what's the next intelligent purchase?

I've already seen one guy selling his G5 because of the
announcement. Just about any used AGP G4 is going to be
a huge step up from your S900, and used PPC Mac prices
are probably going to drop, recover for a while when the
world doesn't end and Apple ships some new product (they
have to, they can't make it through 2006 and 2007 without
a refresh on *something*), and then drop again when the
x86 Macs are actually on the horizon. So pick your time
and snap up a dual G4 Powermac when the prices look good.

and don't you think that this intel switch will bring
a huge amount of revenue for apple and mac software
folks? i mean, no matter what you have, G3, G4, G5,
clone, etc. you HAVE to make the switch.

I'm not planning on buying another Mac for a few years,
unless I win the lottery or the new Powerbook's actually
a Thinkpad.
