Wasn't OSX originally written for the x86 architechure (NextOS ??)

It always has been. Jobs stated yesterday that every piece of Apple software has always been created in both PPC and x86 versions, so the "porting" is already done. OS X, itunes, quicktime, FCP, Safari, etc are ready to go. He demoed them all running on a 3.6ghz P4.

So Apple finally has a 3 ghz machine! Imagine a dual processor P4 machine with hyperthreading running OS X. It would run circles around any dual G5 Mac.

I'm still a little wary. My dual processor G5 runs circles around 3 gig PC's....... I run them both.....
