Hello Melinda,

When you download the English version, the GUI (graphic user interface) will
be in English (the menus, the help, the dialogs the program uses to
communcate with you).

The language(s) you use in the text are another matter, and you can chose
them as you wish.
In Tools > Options > Language settings > Language you can select the
language you usually use (Western script, but also asiatic and complex
scripts) .
In Format > Character > Font type you can chose a language for (a part of) a
text - if the vABC stands nex to the language, the word list for spell
checking is available for this language.
