Some mail/news programs do not respect the 'Reply-To' header and also send to the 'From' address when using the 'Reply-All' button. Those who use these non-compliant programs can use 'Reply-All' button when responding to unsubscribed OPs.

I'm not sure I'd call those programs "non-compliant".

I'd be more inclined to call them "compliant" to my wish to actually reply to all when I select "Reply all".

It would be a much easier way to cc unsubscribed OPs.

So, you're saying an email app should ignore reply to?

No, if I do a "reply", it should go to the "reply-to" field.

If I do a "reply all", it should go to the "reply-to" field plus anyone else who is listed (in the from field, or the cc field, etc.). In other words, to "all".

And what about those who don't want mail sent to the from address? That's the whole point of reply to. They want the reply to go elsewhere and not back to them. Why should the email app handle this differently, just because of reply all??? Does the poster want that reply back to their from address, if they've already said they don't want it there? You can't go breaking the way things work, because one situation causes problems. As I mentioned in another note, I've often sent email from my work address, with a reply to my personal address. If someone's email app sends the reply back to my work address, it's going to go to where I don't want to ever receive it. There are valid reasons for a reply to address. There are no valid reasons for violating the intentions of the sender.
