I would try installing CUPS(Common Unix Printing System), and see if you
are having the same problem.  CUPS handles that kind of stuff well(at
least for my purposes), especially with Samba.

It could be that windows virus as well, so try to isolate the problem,
eg. see if it does it when your linux box is off or disconnected from
network.  

If nothing is going to the print logs, and there aren't any past jobs in
the temp file, I would bet it isn't a problem with your linux box.
