This really does sound like a virus to me (If you have the printer set up in Samba). The virus tries to copy itself to other computers, but it doesn't care if the share is a printer or a file share.

From what I can tell by looking at the whole file this print job
kicks off when Sam turns his computer/printer on every day. This file is on my Linux Server so it is sending something to Sam_670 when it sees if for the first time.

It wouldn't be so bad if it printed off something recognizable but it prints off pages and pages (normally it runs out of paper before it's done). All the printout is garbage.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Brad

Where can I read a print log? it's not in /var/log/

Well, for me, I'm using cups, so its logs are in /var/log/cups . In looking at my /var/log directory, I see a lpr.log, which I assume could be a print log, but it is empty for me because I'm using cups. Do you have LPRng set up? I wouldn't know to do, since I've only used cups since I've started using linux. If you don't have any printing system installed, then it shouldn't be sending things to printers, especially network printers. Well, at least I don't think it should be.

Good Luck!

btw, I like cups. It's been good to me.
