I would be very much interested to work on the topic !
It is a long overdue feature in my opinion, and since I have a non standard
layout myself, I would definitely benefit from the improvement.
Furthermore, I like low-level and close to the bits work, and since I would
have at least to convert, if not expand the current encoding, the task would
be pleasant and motivating.
