The hardware:
===========
Quadra 950, with a
Seagate ST15050N (narrow) 4Gb HD on SCSI bus 0
2 Seagate ST15050W (wide) 4Gb HD on a JackHammer NuBus card (SCSI bus 2).

The software (loaded on the narrow drive):
=================================
Mac OS 8.1.
FWB Hard Disk Toolkit 3.0.2

The problem:
==========
Created a RAID 0 (striped) partition using the two wide hd on the JackHammer. On re-start, the machine hangs (no bong, no smiley face, mouse pointer only). If I enable the "enable SCSI start" jumpers, then the machine will boot as normal, but the RAID partion does not mount until I use FWB HDT to mount it. So I think the problem is the striped array interfers with the boot process even though it's not the drive being booted from.

Any ideas? Should I be using the "spindle sync" connection for these drives? How do you do that?

Any help welcome,
                                   john
