Hi Mary,

Thanks so much for the details about the Bluetooth Instant Pot model.
Unfortunately, this model appears to no longer be available at least not from
Amazon in new condition. They have the Instant Pot Smart Bluetooth model in
standard 6 quart size but only have 3 used ones available and the two used,
like new ones were priced at $329. That seems exorbitant to me and since I'm
considering this as a gift, I wouldn't buy a used model anyway.

If someone knows of another Instant Pot model with Bluetooth that's still
obtainable, I'd love to know its specific name. I prefer buying on Amazon as
opposed to eBay but I suspect I'm going to have to come up with another gift
idea.

Thanks for the help from others who posted about the apps that work with
controlling the Bluetooth model versus those that are mainly recipes.

Subject: Re: Instant Pot App Accessibility and Features Question

Hi Alan,
If you want to use the app, which is fully accessible, you would need to get
the instant pot model that includes Bluetooth. That unfortunately makes it a
good deal more expensive. The instant pot does have very tactile buttons on
the front. So if you didn’t want to spend the money, you could make yourself a
braille chart of what the buttons do. That having been said, I do have the
Bluetooth model and I’m glad. One of the things that you can do is adjust the
cooking duration. That is easy with the Bluetooth model. If you just have the
one with the buttons were nothing talks you would have to remember the various
amounts of time that you’re starting with depending on what operation you want
to do, and then I assume hit a plus or minus button to advance or decrease the
amount of time.

You can monitor the temperature with the app. You can monitor the time
remaining under pressure. You can set the duration as I noted. Of course, you
can also tell it to do various things like soup, rice, manual, there are a
whole bunch of them. I’m honestly not sure how much difference all those things
make, except there are times that are preset of course, but they can be changed
by you. You can also slow cook or make yogurt, none of which I have done. You
do have to pair the device, which means before you can do anything with the
app, you have to hit a certain button on the pot to start the process. And I
honestly don’t remember which one that is. There is a section for recipes. I
never use it. On the bottom there are tabs, and I always go to the one that
says dashboard. That is where you can decide what sort of cooking you want and
set the various parameters accessibly. You can do a lot with these things, and
I’m sure I have not made as much use of mind for different things as many
people on the huge Insta pot facebook group have done.

Hi List,

I know this isn't a cooking list but I have a question about the Instant Pot
and what exactly its iOS app allows one to control. I read the Instant Pot app
description and it seems to talk more about recipes as opposed to controlling
the device with the app. Can anyone who uses an Instant Pot give me some
direction on what the app allows you to do and whether it's accessible? Is
there a particular Instant Pot model that I need to get to obtain app control
over it?

Thanks so much for any help you can provide.
