Very true.
Seems to most people don't care about truth hardly at all.

To recognize this without going crazy, it's necessary to recognize why. It's functional behavior, most of the time. It's the exceptions that are frustrating, but, with some understanding of how people work, it's possible to move beyond them, if there is sufficient access to the people. It doesn't take much access, but it takes time, the protective mechanisms, in someone reasonably functional, have bypasses that depend on low but persistent repetition, together with a few other factors.
