Hey, my original A500 came with AmigaBASIC, which was also by MS ;-).
But it came with the computer at the time, so you can't consider it
a purchase. It was enough to put me off of bying any M$ software. I'd
rather pay the shareware fee for Voyager, than getting any M$ piece of
software for free (they won't run on my Amiga anyway:-))). I still
enjoy working with my Amiga on a daily basis, even though I can't
afford a graphics card right now, rendering it an obsolete machine. I
might offer it to a museum one day, but for now, it does the job. In
fact, I won't upgrade at all until it's clear what the NG-Amigas will
look like. I have a feeling that the NG's might render any "classic"
Amiga obsolete, and with Amiga promising new machines this year (which
should mean the first prototype might be out by the end of next year),
I might just find out that I had better saved my money for a NG
machine. I stopped holding my breath long time ago though ;-).
To get back on topic though, I think it's great that there are people
who right software like Voyager, support it better than MS supports
their software, for a shareware fee that I feel can't pay their
living. It's not the users that kept the Amiga alive over those years,
it's people like Olli, bringing us software long after everybody had
decided the Amiga is dead. So thanks Olli.
