I also have a MobileMe account with iDisk. The biggest reason to use DropBox and Carbonite, for me, is the automatic nature of them. Anything you put into your DropBox folder is automatically sync'ed with the DropBox server and then, when you connect to the net with any of your other computers, that folder is sync'ed with your machines - no thinking needed (and for me that's a real bonus!)
Carbonite is similar, any time a file is saved or changed, the carbonite program sees that and automatically backs up for you. All your music, photos and other files, backed up without having to think about backing up. And both services allow you to access your files from the web, so you have access to them from anywhere in the world. Of course, iDisk has that facility, but the not having to think about syncing or backing up, it just happens in the background, is a major selling point - especially for DropBox when the cost is $0.00.
