Excuse me for saying so but if you get pop-ups delivering virus laden crap downloading automatically then your security settings aren't "okay". Don't let it auto download anything, ever without your explicit permission whether you are in IE, Mozilla, Firefox, Opera on the PC or if on the Mac Safari, IE, Icab, Opera, Mozilla, Firefox or any other browser available.
I have every option set as Disable or Prompt. I don't allow any application to automatically download, including my email program and also even Windows updates.
