If you're using Windows XP, I would *strongly* recommend installing Service
Pack 2 as the massive improvements and new features added make it
worthwhile, notably the improved Security Centre and the in-built
pop-up/malware/file download protection system now incorporated into
Internet Explorer.

I tried to download and install the new service pack 2 days or 3 ago, but my computer locked up and it wouldn't finish.

if you've ever ended up with unwanted toolbars
(like those stupid Porn Search bars) or dialers then the IE Add-in manager
will list everything bolted into the browser and you are free to remove it
(yes, the Google bar and legit ActiveX controls like Flash and Shockwave
will also be listed) without any of the previously required pratting about.

Yes, I seem to get those every time I use IE.

Well, the new service pack is downloaded and installed so I'll get back to my morning mail.

Thanks Ross for the info.
