MTV's president says Sharon Osbourne wanted to sign
a new deal for her family's fly-on-the-wall show in blood.
Van Toffler has revealed details of negotiations between
the TV station and the family. He said: "She told me she
was going to sign in blood." The Osbournes will be extended
for another 20 shows. The new deal is thought to be
worth up to �14m.
A Japanese woman spat out a human fingertip after
biting into a rice ball snack she'd just bought. A local
government official in Sendai says she took it to a local
hospital where a doctor confirmed it was human. A
spokesman for the company that supplied it says a
machine cut off part of the 46-year-old female employee's
finger. The Nihon Fresh Delica spokesman says the
company is "terribly sorry" for the mistake.
A number of German tourists have turned up in an
Australian town thinking they have rights to an opal
mine. They'd been conned into thinking they'd bought
shares in an opal mine in Coober Pedy, over the
Internet. A number of people have arrived with a
certificate for the Bull and Bear Opal Mine, and asked
police and locals for directions. ABC News Online says
the certificate states holders own one square metre
after paying the equivalent of �45.
