A man was detained because police said his clothes
made him look like an escaped convict. The 20-year-
old's decision to wear orange stripes on blue trousers
aroused the suspicion of the police in Ludington, MI.
His clothing caught the eyes of two off-duty Michigan
Department of Corrections employees, as well as a
Lake County reserve officer, who decided he looked
like a prison escapee and detained him. The officers
bound the man's hands with duct tape and searched
him for weapons before asking staff at a gas station
to contact authorities.
A woman in Augusta, Maine, is suing a driver after
crashing into the wall of her house, causing her to
fall off the sofa. Marian McElmurry wants $7,500 in
damages claiming the impact dislodged her from
the sofa, and she was injured when she hit the floor.
In the lawsuit, McElmurry says she was sitting on
the arm of her sofa when Darci Babin drove into the
wall of her ground floor apartment.
Greek officials have apologised after dropping a 113
year-old man from an electoral register because they
refused to believe he was still alive. Alexios Karawassilis
was removed from the list in Melissourgoi in western
Greece. Officials did not want to believe anyone so old
could still be alive. The decision was made when they
put this year's voter list together and to save time checking
death records, simply decided that anyone born before 1890
would be dropped as they could not possibly still be alive.
