Hi! I too own Window-Eyes and no offense whatever was caused by your message <smile>, I agree with our statements and its far better to be up front and honest - and face the facts - rather than being backward and ignoring what stares the user in the face.
I did say in my original message that what I really liked about JAWS was that all the features and functions I had tried just worked as the documentation and other JAWS users said they would, that alone says volumes about a Screen Reading solution or any other product for that matter. Expecting someone to enable port forwarding in a Router is just plain silly, to set up a router you do need a little technical knowledge and some patients - assuming you can set your Router up at all as many Router systems these days - bought straingt from an IPS for instance - are locked and preconfigured but they sell for 2 reasons, 1 they're cheap and 2 they get people connected to the Internet and that's what most people want, they want the connection and not to mess with Port Forwarding or anything else - assuming the "Mr Average" even knew what Port Forwarding meant of course <smile> -. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of chris h (sky) Sent: Sunday, 14 April 2013 5:43 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: JAWS tandem Hello Dane and all I admit the Tandem feature in Jaws is excellent for its purpose, to provide support remotely to another Jaws user. This was one reason why I bought Jaws back when it was version 10, plus a Sma, just so i can take advantage of the Tandem function to help, amongst others, my best friend who lives all the way in Bolton while I live in Derbyshire. I will stress this is the only, and I mean only, time I really need Jaws. Other than that it's Nvda for me. I also bought Window-Eyes in the hopes of taking advantage of their Remote Assistance solution, but since later versions of 7.5, all hopes were lost, since they now expect you or the recipient to configure the router so that the ports are forwarded. This is ridiculous in my view and shows the lack of respect between Gw Micro and those who do not have a clue on how to forward ports. With Tandem, it just works. Oh and I apologize in advance if I have offended Window-Eyes fans on here. Chris.
