No, I don't see problems with port forwarding but other people do, everyone
isn't as Tech minded as you or I are so that's the problem, a lot of people
can't even use their computer let alone configure a router.

As for security? Well its no worse than anything else around.

Hi Dane

What bothers me here is probably just my own paranoia. However, I would
certainly not be comfortable with using internal network infrastructure
functionality via a third-party server. I personally don't see what the
problem is with forwarding one port in the router/firewall configuration.
After all, you yourself have used that method for years, as have many. I
personally have used RDPm, as it used to be called, and also Citrix on main
frame machines with a great deal of success for many years now. Granted, I
haven't done so in a while but I'd have no problem trying this. I'd love to
get my hands on a Jaws demo system so that I could try this actually. I am
certainly not condemning what I haven't ever used. Unfortunately, however,
I'm not prepared to pay out the license fee so I'd probably be looking to
try and get it from Access to Work if I could.

Kind regards

their systems, that is to say no ports need to be opened, no special Windows

the Window-Eyes Remote Assistance functions, I've managed to get the system
working but it took some time, installing this, reinstalling that etc and
even now connections are problematic.

although yes, it does involve making a slight change to your router's
configuration in most case.

provide support remotely to another Jaws user. This was one reason why I
bought Jaws back when it was version 10, plus a Sma, just so i can take
advantage of the Tandem function to help, amongst others, my best friend who
lives all the way in Bolton while I live in Derbyshire. I will stress this
is the only, and I mean only, time I really need Jaws. Other than that it's
Nvda for me. I also bought Window-Eyes in the hopes of taking advantage of
their Remote Assistance solution, but since later versions of 7.5, all hopes
were lost, since they now expect you or the recipient to configure the
router so that the ports are forwarded. This is ridiculous in my view and
shows the lack of respect between Gw Micro and those who do not have a clue
on how to forward ports. With Tandem, it just works. Oh and I apologize in
advance if I have offended Window-Eyes fans on here.
