adding to that, no one here has come close to an experiment to show that
effect. You would need to record hundreds of on air reception periods
with separate parallel identical systems with the audio level to the ADC
being the *only difference* between them and then compare the results to
see the expected extra decodes of the handful of signals with low enough
SNR to be decoded only because of the extra, most optimistic, 0.005 dB
decoding gain.
Obviously using simulated signals would be easier but I think simulating
quantization error may need some careful adjustment to the current JT
mode simulators.
