No...not with no antenna connected....instead with antenna connected and quiet 
period of no signal on top of the noise (like the 50-60 second time period for 
JT modes).

I just built the latest revision today (r7599) and was wondering the
same or similar things.

Am I correct is assuming that, we set the audio input with say, no
antenna connected, to about the 30 Level on the scale now?

I use an external interface, and I had to cut back on the input gain a
fair amount to bring the level down to 30-ish range in between JT
transmission cycles.

I've not monitored enough signals nor done any valid testing, but, was
just wondering if 30-ish is still a good starting point.

FWIW, I like the green bar as it's not overly distracting.
