Most Jews will tell you that the Christian Old Testament is based upon a Greek translation of the Hebrew text that is insufficiently accurate. When reading the TaNakh, even in English translation, one can notice a number of differences - the most notorious is the quote from Isaiah about a virgin bringingforth a child. Well, the word in Hebrew is "almah" and means "young woman". THere is an entirely different word in Hebrew for "virgin" but I cannot recall it at the moment.
