I never understood why repeating a KJJ> guitar riff for 4 minutes is considered more live then arranging KJJ> electronic equipment for 4 minutes?
Ignorant people assume the gear does all the work, and that the person calling himself an artist is really just a technician. I deal with this in my day job (visual artist) constantly. Clients think that all I'm doing is telling the computer what to draw. Generally speaking, nobody knows how a sampler works, but everybody knows how to air guitar. Because techno music is tightly bound to science and futurism, the techniques for performing it are always going to seem alien to the vast majority of people . . . and if they can't understand how you're doing it, they're less apt to give you any kind of credit for your efforts. Such is the nature of the leading edge. ------------- Biochemically-compacted sexual affection. ------------- Brian "balistic" Prince http://www.bprince.com - art and techno Strokes of Defiance EP . . . soon.
