2 of them for $24k, every place I've looked and each recent price sheet I've
"acquired" has shown them at 80k ea new. Even finding these took weeks.

60Gbps throughput per card, 1 Trio, 128 Gbps of ram. Will be using them for
redundant cgnat, firewall, jflow.

Can you share what you’re doing with the MS-MPC’s ? Just curious .. CGNAT,
JSAM?

You got (12) of these cards for $24k?

Thanks,

Paul

Not done through eBay. Most of the refurb sellers on eBay buy low and resell
high. If you buy from eBay you get hosed, if you buy from the resellers...
Well, I just paid $24k for $160k worth of brand new MS-MPC-128's, I have hot
and cold spares for everything, and 720Gbps of non-oversub'd throughput - paid
pennies on the dollar.

As I always say, if you are looking at refurbished gear and need a full routing

a lot of junk on Ebay. LOL

If you go with Brocade, the MLXe is the lowest line that will give you full
MPLS with the number of ports you are requiring 10 or 40 or 100. I talked to
them yesterday about where their line is between CER and MLXe. I was told
possibly early next year, but no specifics.

If you want me to price one or two for you, let me know. We just did a big
order of CERs for Fusion, so we are on their radar :)

Windstream. I assume it's running on the same DTN-X platform that their 100G is
running on, which should do coherent 40G.

I know it will depend on what they're using and obviously how proud they are of
it. I'm just here to talk about the switches on the ends and not what's in the
middle. I can't make an informed decision without having both pieces and in due
time I'll have the transport cost piece.

Mike,

Whos long haul is it? It will depend on what they are using on their end. The
cheapest solution is multi-10g waves.

It would be getting waves on someone else's long haul network.

10G is a slam dunk over 10x 1G. Just checking out the scene for 40G.

Depends on the distance, is this for WAN over a mile or two?

QSFP+ modules and switches can be cheap, but I agree that long distance bonding
of 4x10 SFP+ modules is cheaper.

For those of you that have looked at 40G, what are your thoughts on the
hardware available? I'm looking at primarily switching, though something that
does VPLS, CE or similar features would be nice. Something with TRILL or a
TRILL derivative would be nice too.

I'm not talking Juniper MX scale. Light on power is one of the biggest
priorities.

It doesn't need to have a million ports, either. I do like the Nexus 9k that
we've got, but in some areas, something with more functionality would be nice.

I'm perfectly aware that what I want feature wise may not be available cost
wise.
