I am definitely not understanding whatever it is you guys are saying. I am
not opposed to mystical discussions (theories that contain mysteries which
are not explainable using contemporary knowledge and which may turn out to
be wrong) but I always want to see how they relate to an AGI which might be
feasible in the near future.
For instance, I believe in God. I think that God may be constantly
planting seeds of knowledge in our minds. In particular, insights which may
lead us to a better understanding. Aside from the nonsense of intolerant
religious bigotry, there is nothing wrong with this theory - as a starting
point. But to leave it hanging as it is, it is difficult to see how this
might actually be relevant to the engineering side of what we are talking
about. So I feel obligated to try to use the opinion as a method to find
something more relevant. Because of this I will add the conclusion that we
humans may have to be constantly seeding a future AGI program with insights
to help it reason effectively about the world. As a corollary of this
theory, I would then say that an advanced program of the future would have
to be capable of integrating ideas that it did not think of itself into its
knowledge. But these ideas would only be seeds for the AGI program to
cultivate. This is a slightly different view about the problem than saying
that it needs be provided with common sense knowledge or that it needs
supervised training and so on. The conclusion leads directly to the idea
that a less than grand way of growing knowledge might be used as long as
the program could get lots of insightful help at the right time.
So even though my thought employs some mysticism and even though my
conclusion is not spelled out in detailed computational terms, I do feel
that I took an initial idea, which is totally beyond scientific
engineering, and came up with an idea which is relevant to our thoughts
about the subject.
