I think the big problem here is that you are overstating your case, and perhaps not appreciating that one part of your argument has already been addressed, hashed out, quarelled over and beaten to death in the cognitive psychology literature: the "Imagery Debate" that played out between Kosslyn and Pylyshyn (et al) back in the 80s.

The conclusion of that debate was that (a) images definitely play a role in intelligence, and (b) non-imagistic (propositional) entities also definitely play a role in intelligence, and (c) it is difficult to be sure whether there are two separate kinds of representation or one kind that can have two aspects. In the end, the debate fizzled out because it just became a pointless argument.

Sadly, I think the present debate on this list is not bringing any new ideas to the table.
