OK, that is fine. Exactly what video/audio streams are you capturing? Ie, there may be some way that someone knows to caputre it directly (I am sorry I do not). Is it some sort of streaming video? Is it some sort of skyping or phone conversation? Letting the group know could be very helpful in getting help to you. ffmpeg may well be good for recording video. If it were just audio, then other solutions would suggest themselves including creating alsa PCMs which copy the audio sent to the sound card to a file as well.
