A view menu is the menu where the visual appereance of the document
you're working on and the surrounding UI can be changed. It's mostly
mistaken by people with an English UI as "view" also means like "look
at", but this is not the case for all languages. I don't know what it's
in french, but the Dutch word for example can be translated as "screen"
or "image". "view chat history" is an action on a user and thus
belongs to the "contact" menu imo.
For Spanish users this distinction will be more difult to understand,
as the translation for "View" menu is the verb "Ver" (litteraly "To
see"), rather than a name, so that seems to be an action. This is the
standard translation in every desktop and programa I can remember, but
it seems the Dutch people got right from the begining.
humm, you mean someone made that mistake on MS DOS 1.0 and everyone kept
doing itwhen translating ? too bad...
I allways click on "View" to "view history" rather than on "Actions",
and I allways wondered why it was on that place.
