Accman can you maybe get your understanding of virology from learning a bit about how viruses work as a system as opposed to constantly quoting the media, which has a real financial incentive to not cover a story in your best interests?
Many political entities have real reasons to try to downplay the virus and the consequences are being seen in places like Texas and Florida now (a few months ago it was other places), they take advantage of the alienation presented by our current situation to make us not believe that the virus is as dangerous as it actually is. Instead of becoming hyper analytical of inconclusive information, we should be more proactive and look at the situation as a complex system, both on the social and the individual level.
Self isolation isn't fun and has its own problems but we are actually extending the damage that self isolation causes by continuing to exasperate the disease, because there will be a point where we are materially forced to self isolate out of all of the death that surrounds us. Even if a disease only has a mortality rate of 5%, spreading throughout a community still has catastrophic results on its population.
